This Anthology, which includes the work of 5 awesome science fiction authors is a good read. It contains the following intriguing short stories.
One Man Falls by Mark R. Healy – When the Argoni arrive, there’s no time to play around. Our heroin Jahni learns a fast life-lesson as regards the need to make the sacrifices to do what’s right for all, versus what’s right for one.
Stasis Dreams by Josi Russell – When the desire for understanding morphs into something else, and one no longer considers the human factor
Spera Angelorum by Michael Darling – This story is one of my favorites. Who doesn’t love a bit of mystery as regards magic and angels!
Horizon Alpha: Highwire by D.W. Vogel -Dinosaurs on another planet? Yes! Read on… this one gets intriguing fast!
Keepers by Jared Garrett -This short story draws clear parallels on our modern day reliance on medications and vaccines in order to avoid the most feared diseases and our dependence upon them after a certain time. This is only a parallel which I saw, but it was nice to read a futuristic view of the direction we, as a society are already heading. One where we dare not go outside our normal zones, attempt to protect ourselves from real & perceived threats, and how it sometimes makes acting on the most logical of decisions – virtually impossible.
I must admit that I am not an avid sci-fi fan. That said, this was a great anthology. I was sucked into to each of the five short stories, and literally – could not stop reading. Seriously. Most people would stop after a short story at some point, and pic up reading later. Not me, I just wanted to read more and more…which is a sign of a good book to me!
They did a kickstarter campaign, which allowed for the opportunity to collaborate with the story, which I just think is AWESOME! This was the first time I had ever heard of such a thing and it just sounds like too much fun!
I would recommend this book for anyone interested in sci-fi, anyone who doesn’t have the time to embark on a novel but can read on the train or underground, and I would recommend this for teen readers to adults.
