Product Review: Ozeri Serafino Hand Blown Glasses

Hello there 🙂

I purchased these glasses last month and I love them so much that I really wanted to write a review for them. Why? Well because I hate clutter and I know that you do too!  I always try to make good purchasing decisions and deciding to buy these was a very good decision. Whenever I buy a product, I try to find the best options that will serve as a multi-functional item. Multi-functional items drastically reduce the need for multiple items, and therefore, drastically reduce the clutter. Kind of like buying a dress that can be worn for work, drinks with friends and to a birthday party…instead of buying that party dress that sits in your wardrobe for all other occasions.

So this is what happened. Many of you know me well enough to know that I have minimalistic tendencies. Well, once I got married and we combined all of our belongings, it became overwhelming. It was hard enough dealing with my ‘stuff’. Now our stuff was too much for my taste. Dishes were broken in the move (& chipped during daily use) and we didn’t have a complete set of anything. Just random plates, salad bowls, glasses and coffee cups.  So, I went online and started searching for cohesive sets for our kitchen items so that we could begin the process of turning ‘mine’ and ‘his’ into ‘ours’.

It took quite awhile to find what I was looking for. I am selective to the point that I annoy my friends. My husband is also, but he left me to find what I liked. So here were my must-have’s:

  • Must be multi-functional
  • Must be unique
  • Must be a good material (glass, stone, clay or copper)
  • Must be high-quality (hand crafted and/or from a highly reputable company)
  • Must be an item that I’m proud to display (We have an open cabinet plan in the kitchen)
  • Must be cohesive
  • Must be able to withstand temperature variance
  • Hopefully dishwasher safe.

As you might well imagine, the search did take awhile. And these beautiful glasses came along at just the right moment. The words hand blown and all glass are what really got my attention. After much deliberation, I purchased a pack of 2 – 12 oz glasses. They came straight to our door and we started testing them out immediately.

Speaking the truth, my husband was not as excited about them as I was. He liked the design, but he wasn’t sure about the actual multi-functionality of them. Until, that is, he had his first cup of hot coffee.

IMG_0068

It was at this moment that he decided these might be his new best friend. The glass doesn’t even get warm to the touch! But the coffee inside was boiling. He was sold. If it keeps colds, cold and hots, hot – without affecting the outer glass, it was good! We immediately ordered 4 additional 12 oz glasses. We also began cleaning out our mismatched glasses and mugs from the move. Which felt soooo good! We had our first set.  And now our ‘cup shelf’ looks like it should. No clutter, no random items, just a tidy display of glasses which we can use for everything. 🙂

We are collecting these now. We would like to get a set of the smaller size in the future, so that we have some for entertaining. And that will maintain the cohesive look in the shelf.  Not to mention, these are a great conversation piece – especially when we mention that it’s all handblown glass.

So that’s how that happened.

This is a relatively small company, which sells on amazon. I know that small hand craft companies do have a struggle in today’s Walmart society, so I really wanted to share about this with you. There is a direct follow link at the bottom of the post if you would like to check them out.

Two Types of Affiliate Marketing: An Avenue to Earn Money Blogging Around the World

Hi there 🙂

Today, I want to talk about something I know most of us are wondering about. That something is an avenue for income in the blogging world.

Now, if you are in the U.S.A., your options are basically unlimited. There are too many platforms to mention that cater specifically to the American market. For the rest of us lone bloggers looking for the odd sponsor or affiliate, things get much more complicated. In my 3 years of blogging, I have discovered that it is very difficult to find companies that want to work with someone in a random part of the world. Most want to corner the American market. For those platforms which occasionally have a desire for the European market, it seems to be either France or the UK which they are focused on. I understand entirely, the marketing aspect of this. However it can be quite stress-inducing for a blogger not located in the USA, UK or France to find platforms which would fit their demographic. Anyway. I have found several platforms with which affiliate marketing is possible for all of us everywhere, and I have found a couple platforms which are looking for bloggers all over the world for specific posts. This is what I wanted to share. I know that I have spent many hours of frustration that could have easily been avoided if I had found a post like mine.

So here goes:

For example shareasale.com  is a great site if you are looking to connect with a variety of companies that are looking for affiliates worldwide. This is strictly affiliate marketing. Share A Sale offers competitive commissions and unlimited access to apply with their companies.

Another great platform, which is relatively new is Get Blogged. This platform allows you to apply for multiple individual paid placement opportunities. It seems that Get Blogged mainly has opportunities in the UK, however there are placement opportunities globally, you just have to keep an eye out for them.

Hope this helps!

Must Have Witches!

I realized today, that halloween is next month! As most of you know, I am a new-found Halloween fan. As we don’t have so much on offer for Halloween in this country, I realized that if I order soon, they will be here well before Halloween time and just in time to really freak out the neighbors 😉

So I’m loving witches at the moment. Why, you ask? Well, because here we can use them several times a year and not just for the one holiday. And I love multi-use items. So a witch-fest it is!

I don’t know why, but I kind of need this witch! I have the perfect place for it and I think our friendly neighbors would cry laughing when they realize what it actually is 😀

This is just cute as an alternative to a seasonal wreath on the door…

Now, I must admit; I was thinking that some zombie hands would be the perfect scare. However, given that we all watched The Wizard of Oz as children, how perfect would it be to stake these at an angle by the house as if it fell on her?!?

At over $100, this is quite indulgent, but I thought it was really neat so I had to add it!

And this is my list (for this week) of Halloween must-have’s that I’ve been drooling over. Do you celebrate Halloween? How do you do it?

My Lust list

I’m not sure why, but I felt the need to share some of my faves for this season. I try to stick to a simple capsule wardrobe, but it doesn’t mean that I don’t spend boo-koodles of time on the net drooling over fashions I would love to see hanging in my closet.

Here are a few of the items I would buy in a heartbeat if I was able:

cotton-dress

Verdusa Women’s Casual V Neck Side Split Beach Long Maxi Dress Grey L

I’ve really been into super comfy dresses, especially since I have surgery coming up and like to look nice, even though I’ll be hanging in around the house. This, I’m in love with! So simple, comfy, yet will look super sleek with a thick belt.

Retro Wide Metal Interlock Buckle Womens Elastic Waist Belt Cinch (Black 1)

A great silk blouse with leather pants or a leather skirt for an edgy look.

leather

Jessica London Women’s Plus Size Leather Pants Black,12

Starting to see a pattern here? I love items that can mix and match easily with each other. It makes it possible to create a variety of looks with minimal effort (and expense).

Now for accessories and home, which I am really digging right now because I want to feel comfy and luxurious, and I want to look like I spent hours on my look, when I only threw on some bangles and earrings 😉

bangle

Kate Spade New York Womens Idiom Bangles Solid Gold Gold One Size

I am loving this bangle right now. It can be worn with basically every kind of outfit to kick it up a notch.

earrings

14k Yellow Gold Hoop Earrings (2″ Diameter)

Fashion Fix: Rachel Zoe

I must admit that I initially thought that some of Rachel Zoe’s line was a little – eccentric – when it first hit the stores. Sequined knit winter hats, gloves and the like didn’t exactly seem like something I could use in -30 temps. I wasn’t exactly sure who this new celebrity stylist was that seemed to be taking the world by storm, and our T.V.’s as well.

rachel-zoe

Rachel Zoe, designer & celebrity stylist

Then one day it happened… I was in the States and happened to find myself in Saks Fifth Ave department store. They were having an incredible sale (which is why I was in there to begin with) and I was perusing the racks to see what caught my eye. There it was, a lamb leather and woven linen mini skirt. Gorgeous, and just my size! Now, I must explain, I have a deep dislike for man made fabrics. I much prefer naturals, silks, linens, leathers, cottons, hemps, wool and the like because it just feels so much better on my skin and because man made fabrics, although extremely easy to care for, make me hot and feel itchy and uncomfortable. So you can imagine my joy when I realized this skirt was my favourite fabrics, pretty and a perfect fit! Also, the % off sale cinched the deal! So, I bought it, of course! (pictured)

Now, I’m a reformed Zoe doubter. Not only do I accept her line, but I search out her items. Sometimes it takes awhile to find the perfect thing because price and material… Her line runs an average of $200 – $900 per item. (Not including accessories, thank God!). So people have to really be sure that what they get is what they want because they’ll be wearing for the foreseeable future.

Here are some of the looks from Rachel Zoe’s 2016 ready to wear as seen in Vogue.

Sometimes you can snag a really exciting deal, so I’ve taken the liberty, after searching a few reliable places to leave the links to some really affordable Rachel Zoe items that are on my lust list below:

New online marketplace: Webstore.com! #freeonlinewebstore

Hi there everyone 🙂

I wanted to share this, because I know that there are many who sell online and basically all of us have an online shopping habit at one time or another. If you’re anything like me, you used to be an E-bay addict, until all the hidden fees and price boosts due to extra seller fees occurred. Then it kind of turned-  ‘meh’.  So now I search for better e-commerce platforms.

I had never heard of this site until I was on the hunt for reception decor ideas. There are LOTS of wedding, party decor and necessities listed here! Then I checked it out. (Thoroughly, as I never blog about anything until I check it out and ask questions.)

There are NO fees. Seriously, I even contacted the company to ask about it. No hidden fees, no listing fees, no sale based commissions. The only thing I could find that costs anything, is actually optional. That is the $10 fee for the verification process. You do not have to be verified, but if you wish to be verified, that is the cost. The reason this costs exists is to cover the expenses of the company in order to verify you. For the most part, I was told that some sellers choose to be verified as it contributes to legitimacy of the sellers business. Webstore.com is completely upfront about how they make their money via on-site marketing so that they can cover their expenses without charging the people who make their site highly functioning: The buyers and sellers. I don’t know about you, but I very much respect a business that is forthcoming about their strategy.

Webstore.com is really easy to navigate, and the bidding process -as far as I can tell -works in a similar fashion to e-bay. Paypal is accepted. International buyers and sellers are welcome! (A huge plus in my book, as I hate it when I’m checking out and then I’m told that such and such store does not ship to my country.) The verification process seems quite diligent, so if you find the perfect item from a verified seller you can trust that it’s coming from a solid source.

I hope you check it out, and if you decide to use http://www.webstore.com as your new selling platform (Hello all you Etsy sellers out there!) drop us a line with the link to your new e-store!

Thanks for reading!

The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner

I am featuring The Body Shops’ Vitamin E Hydrating Toner as this weeks’ Friday find challenge by A Dark Word Inside. This little beauty has been a lifesaver for me!

I was so sad when my Clarins alcohol free toner finally ran out. I found this little guy in my The Body Shop advent calendar this year and was absolutely relieved to use it. It works better than I had expected. Especially on aging skin. I’ve been so set on using Higher end facial care products due to a constant influx of ‘meh’ experiences with affordable products.

This one surprised me though. My pores are staying clean and it is not drying out my skin. (A biggie at this point) I guess the ultimate test will come when I go in for my next facial and am thoroughly scrutinized. But I can tell you that this particular toner actually works! Yay!

What’s your favourite toner?

Friday Find: Marks and Spencer trousers and A-line jacket

This weeks Friday Find Challenge from A dark world inside is a good one! I was so excited to find this outfit pairing at Marks & Spencer, and on sale too!

The skinny leg trench trousers (which are red, not the pink that it looks like in the photo) fit perfectly and cut at the ankle. They were initially one half of a set (other half, unknown) which is why, I assume that they were 70% off at a 50% off sale. I paired this with an A-line jacket in Navy blue with black leather panels, which was also marked down 50%.  Ka-ching! Thank you, Marks and Spencer! As a top, I’ve added in my Peck & Peck red cashmere turtleneck sweater. I love cashmere…can’t get enough of the stuff!

This will be my #ootd for many days, I think. As for accessories, I wear them with my previously mentioned purchase of Clarks ankle boot wedges, A balmuir 100% cashmere beige hat and Navy scarf. For a pop of colour, I’m using my canary yellow Brahmin clutch. I love this bag. I’ve had it for several years now and it magically remains in perfect condition. Worth every cent!

What are your favourite finds?

Lemon juice and Glycerine hand gel

This is my weekly find feature, for the weekly find challenge by a dark world inside. This is also a product review for this product, which I highly recommend…especially for winter hands!

After a month of complaining that my usual hand creams weren’t working -during a particularly cold and cruel winter, this little beauty found it’s way into my Christmas stocking. I don’t know if it was the soap I was using, or the extreme temps outdoors…but my hands have dried out so badly that they were cracking and even bleeding in some places. Ouch! Ouch! OOOOOUUUUCH!

This product, which originates in Finland, is glycerine based – not water based and has made a drastic difference in the condition of my hands. Thank you! For next winter, I will make sure to have a stock of this on hand…literally! Besides, whats the point of having a fantastic manicure when your hands look like you’re 100 years old?

What are your fave hand products for the cold?

Guerlain Paris maxi shine lip sensation

This is my weekly find for the weekly find blogging event at a dark world inside and I’m also writing a product review for this product. This stuff is AWESOME!

I’m a loyal Shalimar fan, so when I purchased a bottle of one of may all-time favorite fragrances, I received this little beauty as a bonus. I have to admit, that had it never been added to my bag, I probably would not have purchased it on my own. But now, I will. Not only is it a super moisturizing lipgloss, but…IT SMELLS LIKE ROSES!!

SOLD! I’ve used it to the very end already and will be, without a doubt, purchasing another tube of this maxi shine when I am next at the Guerlain counter.

You can view some of my other lip gloss product reviews here.

What are some of your faves?
